PUBLIC HOUSING is a film about daily life at the Ida B. Wells public housing 　　evelopment in Chicago. The film shows the work of the tenants council, street life, 　　the role of police, job training programs, drug education, teenage mothers, dysfunctional 　　families, elderly residents, nursery school and after school teenage programs and the 　　activities of the city, state and federal governments in maintaining and changing public 　　housing. The scenes illustrate some of the experiences of people living in conditions 　　of extreme poverty.

李小龙未满周岁便亮相银幕的《金门女》，导演伍锦霞是 三藩市华侨，三、四十年代在香港和美国执导过九部粤 语片，不乏民族意识及女权色彩。既是第一位执导港片 的海外华人女导演，更是独立特行、超越时代的奇女子， 毕生短髮男装打扮，人皆以「霞哥」相称，于纽约经营 的中餐馆更成了传奇地标。影片在资料蒐集与追访亲友 之馀，不忘拿同样大志未竟的两位同期的影坛先锋作映 照，华裔荷裡活女星黄柳霜及当时唯一的荷裡活女导演 Dorothy Arzner，皆被时代遗忘多时，今日重获肯定。
